Trainers, food, and other recommendations
Here at CSBR we get lots of questions about trainers, dog walkers, food, and all other things Saint Bernard! Below are some of the companies and services we have experience with and would recommend!
Note that we do NOT recieve any compensation from the companies listed below if you choose to use them. We just really love them!
Trainers
A good trainer is perhaps one of the most important aspects of owning a dog! There are so many to choose from, we know it can be tough. When looking for a trainer, it is important to find one that uses positive reenforcement techniques. Below are some trainers that we have worked with that we love!

- Positive reenforcement based animal training programs
- Pet Sitting and Boarding with a personal touch – (think mini dog fun camp with hikes and photos)
- Doggie Boot Camps (for more challenging issues
Get Your Sit Together offers training with a highly qualified trainer
- ABCDT Certification from the Animal Behavior College (2000)
- CDBC Certification from the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants
- CPDT-KSA certification from the Council for Professional Dog Training
Get Your Sit Together donates time to help us (and many other shelters and rescues!) train dogs in order to help them overcome issues and become more adoptable.

Food
One of the most consistent questions we get is what to feed your Saint Bernard. We always recommend you work with your vet’s office to select an appropriate diet for your pet, particularly if you have more than one dog, or dogs of various sizes.
Foods that we recommend
After consulting with our veterinarian, we recommend feeding a diet that follows WSAVA guidelines. You can learn more about WSAVA and their food recommendations on their website (https://wsava.org)
We recommend that you speak to your veterinarian when selecting a food for your dog, as they will be able to make a recommendation based on your individual dog(s). Brands recommended by our vet in alphabetical order are Eukanuba, Hills Science Diet, Iams, Purina Pro Plan, and Royal Canin. These foods come in a variety of protein bases and flavors making feeding even your picky dog easy.
Dog walkers and sitters
Finding a trustworthy person to walk your dogs and care for your pets if you are out of town can feel like an impossible task! Below are some companies that we trust!
Kat’s K9s, LLC offers affordable, award-winning pet care for all pet owners in Colorado. We do not have a specific service area and can travel to you! Or, your pup can join us at our facility! We are happy to cater to your dog’s needs! To ensure that your pet is happy, just let us know. We aim to provide the best service for your furry/scaly/feathered family member! Veterinarians
Having a vet that you can trust with your pet’s health is priceless! Because we only like to recommend vets that we have worked with, the list seems short. If you are not near one of the offices listed below, you can read about things to consider when looking for a vet here: https://www.avma.org/resources/pet-owners/yourvet/finding-veterinarian
We also recommend locating and speaking to an emergency clinic near your home that is open 24 hours in case your pet needs urgent medical care when your regular vet is closed.
Mesa Veterinary Hospital is CSBR’s primary veterinarian! All dogs that come through rescue recieve medical care and evaluation through Mesa. Please visit their website for more information on the services that they provide, including care for exotics!
